Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the Primary Care/General Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of California San Francisco!

A full description of the UCSF Primary Care General Internal Medicine Program and other UCSF Department of Medicine residency programs is available electronically at http://medicine.ucsf.edu/housestaff/residency/. For the 2017–2018 NRMP, all applicants to the UCSF Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program (NRMP number 1062140M0) must apply through the electronic residency application service (ERAS). Please inquire through your medical school academic affairs office for additional information.

In addition to the ERAS application, we require: supporting letters from the Dean of your Medical School; the Chairman of the Department of Medicine or a designated representative; letters from two other faculty who are acquainted with your work; USMLE board scores; medical school transcript and a personal statement. The final deadline for receipt of all of these materials is November 15, 2017 but earlier completion is urged to facilitate the interviewing process. We will begin to send invitations for interviews in October 2017 as soon as applications are completed and supporting letters are received. In order to be placed on our match list, applicants must have passed both the clinical skills section and clinical knowledge section of Step 2 by February 15, 2018.

Interviews occur on specific dates set by the program. Candidates invited for interviews will be asked to rank their preferred interview dates by mail. Couples who plan to match together should state this in their application. Couples will be evaluated in the standard NRMP framework.

Good luck in your application and interviews! We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sincerely,

Katherine Julian, MD
