The Division of General Internal Medicine is a Division located and managed decentrally at three locations of the University of California, San Francisco campuses. Each site has its own uniqueness but all excel in the delivery of high quality, culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate primary and preventive health care; conducting innovative, population-based and epidemiological research; and training the best doctors of the future.

DGIM News Upcoming Events

A Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new home of DGIM was held on September 10, 2008. When completed, the new Osher Building will house the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and the Division of General Internal Medicine.

Eliseo J. Pérez-Stable, MD recieves National Medical Fellowships Humanitarian Award
Eliseo J. Pérez-Stable was given the National Medical Fellowships Humanitarian Award at the NMF 2009 San Francisco Awards Gala. Dr. Pérez-Stable was recognized for his extensive work in the Latino community that has led to culturally appropriate interventions to promote early detection of cancer among Latinos.

Mitchell Katz, MD awarded 2009 Milton and Ruth Roemer Prize by APHA
The American Public Health Association has awarded the 2009 Milton and Ruth Roemer Prize to Mitchell H. Katz, MD. This prize is awarded in recognition of a health officer who has demonstrated creativity and innovation in public health work. Josh Adler, MD named Chief Medical Officer of UCSF Medical Center

After a comprehensive national search, Dr. Josh Adler was selected as Chief Medical Officer of the UCSF Medical Center effective July 1, 2009.

2009 Robert H. Crede Awards

The annual DGIM Robert H. Crede Awards provide the faculty and staff of DGIM an opportunity to recognize their co-workers for their dedication and service to the Division, our students, our patients and the community. Nominations for each of the categories were submitted by DGIM faculty and staff and the winners were selected by the Crede Award Committee that comprised of last year's winners.
