Research interests: Assessing health and health-related concepts in a variety of diverse populations, adaptation of measures to be appropriate for minority and older population subgroups; developing concepts and measures of interpersonal processes of care in diverse population groups, identifying optimal measures of socioeconomic status for identifying effects of SES on health and healthcare disparities, and diffusing and evaluating physical activity promotion interventions to reach older persons in underserved communities.

Teaching and Mentoring: Conceptualizing research questions with a focus on questions pertaining to health care and health disparities, selecting and testing self-report measures of health and health-related concepts, adapting measures for use in diverse population groups, sources of existing measures in studies of health disparities, methodological issues in selecting measures for use in studies of health disparities.
