Dr. McPhee is currently a staff physician in the General Internal Medicine Group Practice and an attending physician on the wards of the Moffitt-Long Hospitals, including attending in the Comfort Care Suites of the Long Hospital.

Dr. McPhee has previous research experience in several areas of health services research, including disease prevention and health promotion, methods of changing physicians' behavior, graduate medical education, health care cost-containment, medical technology assessment and quality assurance. He currently serves as Principal Investigator, Project Leader or Co-Investigator for 10 research grants. His major research activity is in preventive medicine, principally in the area of cancer prevention and control. He serves as Co-Director and a Principal Investigator for the UCSF Vietnamese Community Health Promotion Project. Current research is in the areas of promoting breast and cervical cancer screening, hepatitis B immunoprophylaxis, and tobacco education and cessation among Vietnamese in northern and southern California. He also has several active grants in end-of-life care.
